July 1 in China

We had quite an ordeal getting to Beijing!  While we were suppose to land at 10 pm on June 30, we actually landed at 2:45 p.m. July 1.  The Seattle half of our delegation had arrived as planned on the 30th, so they had visited the Forbidden City and Tian'anemen Square...and had gone to a culinary school...or something to do with tea.  By the time we went through everything at the airport, it was about 4 p.m.  Andy, a delegation manager for the middle school group arriving July 2, met us at the airport. He loaded us up on a bus...and off we went for dinner and to meet up with the Seattle group.
This was our first dinner...you can see most all of our guys at the same table...

our guys and the guys from Monterey.  They had gotten to know each other quite well with all the airport time we had!
As you can see, Madison was delighted with a capital D... to "have some estrogen" as she put it.  She had been the only girl between our group and the Monterey group.

Here's the email I sent out about this day:

We definitely took the 'slow boat to China'...but I'm thankful we're here safe and sound and with our luggage!!!

We were by Andy, another delegation manager. He took us to a restaurant where we met up with the Seattle delegation for a dinner of Peking Duck ...among a lot if other delicious foods ! The 2 groups started mixing instantly!

We're beck at the hotel now...we have wifi but Facebook isn't working ! So unless I can figure something else out, pictures will have to wait😥

Tomorrow is the Great Wall among other things ... Oh boy!

I'm betting we all crash early tonight!
